Waiting for a sign …
For as long as she could remember, Bertie has lived her life by following signs – a sign that says she must go to a ball, a sign that lets her know if she should go driving with a particular gentleman. She had comfort in knowing that whatever her choices through life she would always be on the right path if she followed her signs.
But now, when she had the most important decision to make in her life, the signs only sent her into a whirl of confusion. All signs pointed towards her setting her sights on a very nice gentleman whom she liked very much but the problem was that her heart secretly longed for another. How could the signs possibly be wrong? Was it time for her to stop looking for signs and follow her heart instead? Bertie didn’t know if she could do it.
